Costa
Dorada:
A 10 mile stretch of the Costa Dorada
region has become almost one huge resort comprising large, built-up
areas alongside scores of unspoilt bays.
Get-away-from-it-all holidays aren't
easy to come by in a region that is so geared up for active families and
visitors who like to party, although Costa Dorada is not officially part
of the single's club scene.
Most people are drawn by the theme
parks and the abundance of bars and shops. One man's 'holiday from
heaven' is another's 'holiday from hell'.
Be aware that in August the tourist
numbers become significantly more swollen by Spanish holidaymakers.
Weather: Considerably cooler
in the summer ( around 8 degrees) than the Costa del Sol. Not really a
winter destination.
Flight time: 2 - 2 hours
Time Difference: GMT + 1.

Tips

- Port Adventura - an Orlando-style theme park
in Salou draws in crowds from neighbouring resorts. Set in five
different 'lands' - Mediterranean, Mexico, Polynesia, Far West and
China, the park has a unique feel, with rides and shows for
all ages. It may take more than a day to get round but multi-day
admission prices are reasonable and bookable in the UK.
- Other modern attractions include a huge water park near La Pineda.
- For a bit of variety try Barcelona, a city worth seeing and within
easy reach. The famous Nou Camp football stadium is a Mecca for
footy fans, while others can immerse themselves in culture, admiring
the city's authentic architecture and the Picasso museum.
- Kids might enjoy the city's world famous zoo. Tourist buses
operate along different routes of interest for one fare.
