The
Algarve
The start of the tourism boom in the 60's and 70's
looked quite promising for the Algarve, with laws introduced to prevent
over development of the coastline...so what happened ?
Not to be outdone by neighboring Spain the "pile
'em high, sell 'em cheap" mentality took over in a few places.
And it's still going-on so check that your
accommodation isn't next to a building site, although some areas are now
protected from the bulldozers.
The Algarve does boast some of the best beaches in
Europe - even in the more developed resorts like Albufeira and Praia da
Rocha which are perched on rugged cliffs.
Weather: Summer: On a par with the
warmest Spanish resorts. Winter: Milder than the 'Costas'.
